amfAR Red-Carpet Trend: Barely-There Dressing
BARING all on the red carpet is nothing new, but the scale of nudity has upped even further in recent years and it seems the amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala at the Cannes Film Festival was no exception. Ever-higher splits and increasingly sheer fabric exposed areas of skin usually reserved for a Riviera cruise rather than the red carpet. We know Bella Hadid isn’t afraid of showing a little skin, with a thigh-high split fast becoming her go-to style of choice – just take a look at last year’s jaw-dropping dress – and it appears others have taken her audacious lead. Neelam Gill’s thigh-grazing gown also featured cut-out sides and a plunging neck line, whereas Shanina Shaik’s revealing side profile left little to the imagination. Elsewhere, the likes of Martha Hunt and Gizele Oliveira made a case for demure dressing with subtle skin reveals under strategically placed sequins and sheer fabric. How much would you dare to bare?
