EXCLUSIVE French Fashion Icon Caroline De Maigret On The Power of Chanel
As part of Karl Lagerfeld’s campaign for the launch of Chanel’s latest bag, Gabrielle, the French singer, writer and all round fashion icon, Caroline de Maigret talks about working with the house of Chanel.
Appearing in one of four films that are meant to express the essence of the house’s founder, none other than Gabrielle Chanel. Maigret forms part of an impressive Chanel clan by starring alongside Karl Lagerfeld’s eternal loves, Kristen Stewart, Cara Delevingne and Pharrell Williams.
Directed by Oliver Assaya, Maigret acts as a protagonist who embodies the spirit of the ‘Gabrielle’ bag, moving around a typical Parisian apartment throughout the short film. Serving up handbag goals and apartment goals all at once, it seems.
Talking about working with the iconic director, Maigret doesn’t hold back, “today’s shoot was an incredible experience with very talented people, Olivier Assayas and his team. I go into a Parisian apartment and arrive at a photo shoot I had with Karl. It’s a nod from Olivier Assayas to Karl Lagerfeld.”
Speaking about the influence of Gabrielle on her, Maigret comments, “I take the Chanel Gabrielle bag with me, which is like Gabrielle Chanel’s spirit accompanying me. She has always inspired me. I aspire to follow in her footsteps, to possess the unbridled freedom to do what you want when you want.”
We want her bag, we want her hair, we want her style, and we want her apartment. The. End.
