Inspired by the works of the Dutch Masters and Renaissance artists, Victorian flower photographs and the English country garden, Flora’s displays are works of art themeselves. Fusing seasonal flowers with rare species and foilage from her own garden, she creates arrangements that are beautiful with a dark twist. Much like her clients that include Alexander McQueen and Givenchy.
If you live in East London you may have spotted Florence Kennedy whizzing by on her flower adorned bicycle. Or walking her Great Dane Huxley, bunches of blooms tucked under her arm. When her husband James founded his bicycle making company Kennedy City Bicycles and Flora spotted a gap in the market for affordable and beautiful bouquets, Petalon Flowers was born. The concept is simple, each week Florence posts a photo of two bouquets on her website and social media channels. Then customers choose which they would like (£28 for a regular size, £45 for large) and Florence jumps on her Kennedy City bike to personally hand deliver each order. She also makes a donation of £1 from each bouquet to Capital Bee, a charity that helps support London’s bee population.
This is like the Deliveroo of the flower world. You enter your postcode, then choose a bouquet from the coolest independent florists in your area.
Although Hayley Newstead won’t reveal exactly who her celebrity clients are she has done parties for Armani, Nicole Farhi, the MTV Awards and Madonna. She describes herself as a ‘luxurious florist’ so you can expect plenty of roses, peonies and orchids.
As former PR Director at TOM FORD for 9 years, when it comes to chic flowers Adam Wilkie knows what he is talking about. He and his two his two unnamed partners (so mysterious, so fashion) set up their flower cut business that sells curated fresh blooms direct from the flower markets in Holland to your front door. Think giant armfuls of sweetpeas, ranunculus and hyacinths. It really doesn’t get much better.
