How To Nail The Unicorn Uniform With Justine Skye At Topshop
The queen of the unicorns, the purple unicorn herself, Justine Skye takes us on a Topshop spring/ summer 2017 haul for this week’s instalment of Joshington Hosts (your weekly fashion and celebrity vlog hosted by Josh Newis-Smith).
The singer-songwriter who is signed to Jay-Z’s RocNation label is making a stir both in the music world and the style sphere so it seems that there is no one better for educating us in the art of Unicorn dressing in our favourite high street store, Topshop. Here’s how to do first date dressing and club clobber like a true unicorn…
The ‘Street Unicorn’ Look
What are the rules for unicorn dressing I hear you ask? Justine steps in, “there really are no rules for unicorn dressing. It’s the one time when you can be the most you can be… its all about ‘unicorning.’ I saw this cropped hoody which is so cute. I have been spending a lot of time in L.A and it’s purple and team it with a metallic denim sky blue skirt!” The results are what we shall now christen, the street unicorn look. When it comes to finishing off the outfit, “you have got to go all out, you got to have chockers, rings, tonnes of chains, all the chains!” Don’t hold back unicorns!
First Date Dressing- The ‘Unicorn’ Way
Thought a leather mini skirt was a bit too much for a first date, then think again, “for a first date you want to be sexy, you want them to walk in and say damn girl and then you have already won! If he’s not that sassy or down with what is going on or you are not that sure about him then you go for a pant. Its still cute, it’s funky, it’s a shiny patent pant. You just keep the top and ditch the skirt because it’s a bit much and keep the hoop earrings so you still have something going on.” After all Justine confesses that she has never been on a bad date so this girl KNOWS what she is talking about…
How To ‘Unicorn’ In The Club
Justine is certainly a well-connected gal, having recently been seen hanging out with Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner – who appeared in Skye’s ‘I’m Yours’ video- during her trip to London Fashion Week (check out her photo diary here!). So it’s safe to say she knows a thing or two about Saturday night style. Picking out a metallic mini skirt Justine thinks past the visuals, “what a skirt does in the club is it keeps you together as you can’t go too crazy as you are wearing a skirt. You have got to keep it cute because I am still trying to get a man, after all!”
Finish with a crop top as, “you want to flash a little flesh but you don’t want to give it all to them, so give a little bit,” for an update on what Joshington Hosts calls, “a sexy astronaut look!” Alas Neil Armstrong didn’t have a mini skirt OR a crop top for the moonlighting. Oversight.
